Alexander McQueen BUZZZZZ Feed

Alexander McQueen’s, Sarah Burton was inspired by bees. Yes, bees.  Burton shares minutes before her show, “A matriarchal society where the females rule.” And because the artful shape they’ve given to nature, the honeycomb, had given her endless possibilities, as she portrayed the ‘heritage silhouette.’

The models buzzed down the runway in form-fitting pieces with the touch of Vargas pinups…the ‘un-traditonal’ pin-up, that is. Burton created honeycomb shape into jacquards, nets, and laces. Essentially, bees were embroidered into her work.  Wasp-waist jackets, reed-thin skirts and pants along with boots made from crystal-studded stretch of netting that stood tall and tight on the models. Hips were a key feature due to the  structural jackets. As the collection buzzed by, I’m convinced that Burton poured some Miracle Grow on her evening wear, due to the endless flowers that covered the models. Overall, Mcqueen is always presenting the unthinkable.
